Name:
Amanda Sarria

Where do you currently live?  Ontario, Canada

How far along were you when you found out you were expecting twins9 weeks (first ultrasound)

Any issues during your pregnancy? Nothing! Other than terrible morning sickness (for about 5 months)! I was large, heavy, and miserable towards the end and incredibly TIRED. But I was very fortunate.

Memorable/funny moment when you were pregnant:  Finding out it was twins! I sort of had a feeling that something was up. Being my first pregnancy, I wasn't sure what the feeling was.

When I laid down for the ultrasound I made a joke and said, "Please tell me there isn't two babies." And the technician said, "Yup!" "Yup, you're making sure?" I asked. "Yup- there's two babies!" She said. I couldn't stop smiling, the technician called my husband, mom and sister in, all I could do was hold up two fingers. My husband smiled and kissed me, my mom and sister cheered!!
Looking back, what is one thing you would tell your pregnant self? To enjoy it! I knew I was only planning on doing this one time (now that we knew it was twins), I wish I would've enjoyed/embraced it more.

How many weeks/days were you when your twins were born? 37.6 weeks

Did you have a c-section or natural delivery? Babies were head down for months. I went in to be induced the Friday morning, 9am. Water was broken around 4-5pm, was having major contractions about two mins apart for about one minute long and was at 4 cm for approximately 10 hrs, babies were lowering at the same time. Baby B's heart rate was dropping so we decided on a c-section. Babies were born that Saturday morning-healthy and beautiful!

Any NICU time?  If yes, for what reason and how long? No.

Did you have any complications after delivery? A little bit of leaking from the incision site, antibiotics given.

How long did you stay in the hospital? 2 nights

Did your twins stay with you or the hospital nursery at night? With us

What are three things you are so glad you had (or wish you would have had) at the hospital?    Mits-babies are born with long nails!

Socks for myself Twin nursing pillow-I didn't have one until 2 weeks after babies were born, hurt my back using regular pillows.

Describe one of your favorite moments while you were at the hospital: Waking up in recovery watching my husband care for our new babies.

If you had one piece of advice you could give an expecting mom of twins, what would it be?
Expect the unexpected. Enjoy the ride- you're more tired than you'll ever be and it will be tough, but it is the most rewarding job ever and you were chosen for a reason!
