Day in the Life: 19 Months

Hi Friends! My name is Megan, and I am the mom of three beautiful boys. I have a 4-year-old named Kaleb and my twins Max and Mason who are 19 months. Life is never boring with my wild and crazy bunch! While they are high energy and SO much fun, they are also very routine oriented and we have established a really good schedule for them. This summer we have been working to drop our morning nap (unsuccessfully so far), and eliminate all bottles. It's been a tougher transition with these two than it was with my first, but we are a work in progress! Here is what a day is like in our crazy, beautiful life!

6:45a: Max wakes up and starts making noise in his crib. He is generally a happy waker upper, and we let him play in his bed until Mason wakes up.

7:00a: Mason starts to stir. Mason is NOT a happy waker upper, and we immediately get the boys and start waking up and getting breakfast ready. I turn on some cartoons for the boys while they wait for breakfast.

7:15a: Breakfast is served. They didn't want to wait, so I gave them an apricot while I finished the eggs.

7:30a: The boys play with big brother, run all over the house, Max has a meltdown and needs to be held for 15 minutes while mommy tries to make coffee and breakfast for herself.

8:30a: Daddy leaves for work and we have another small meltdown. All the boys hug daddy and Mason watches at the window as he leaves.

8:30a - 9:30a: Lots more play time. Max reads a book, the boys wrestle each other for a few minutes, a fight errupts over the rocking horse, couch jumping dance party, Mason somehow pulls his arm out of his jammies. Then FINALLY it's time to put all the toys away and head upstairs for a nap.

9:30a - 9:45a: I get the boys dressed and diapers changed. They get their lovies and blankies and lay down for a  short morning nap.

10:45a: I wake the boys up one at a time and get their hair done. They are just SO handsome I can hardly stand it!

11:00a: Snacktime! I also take the wiggle free moment and put their shoes on. Before we head out to run some errands, I change their diapers.

11:30a - 1p: We run a bunch of errands, and end up at Target. By this point the boys are a little wrestless, and so I have to bribe them with treats to make them happy in the cart. Whatever works! Max and Mason also can't resist a BALL! They get so excited! Since they did so well running all my errands, I caved and bought them each a giant ball. They were SO happy. Don't worry.. Kaleb was content with is vanilla milk.

1:00p: We get home from Target and I let the boys play for awhile in the backyard while I get lunch ready. The plan was to have a picnic lunch in the backyard, but the weather had other plans. #rain

1:20p: Lunch is served

1:40p - 2:00p : I let the boys play for awhile longer while I get lunch cleaned up, and Mason manages to get an arm out of his shirt again! We then head back upstairs for afternoon nap.

2:00p - 4:30p All 3 boys take a nap (HALLELUJAH!) and mommy gets some housework done and then I also take a much needed nap. No one wakes on their own, so at 4:30, I start rallying the troops. If I let them all sleep past this time, they don't go down at bedtime.

4:40p: After another diaper change, it's snacktime again. We eat "pah cah" or popcorn as it's commonly called lol.

5:00p: Kaleb asks if we can take a walk around the block, so I load up the twins in the wagon and we head out! We've had a few days of rainy weather, so we take every advantage of the break from the rain to get outdoors. We love our neighborhood and our wagon!

5:30p: DADDY IS HOME! Praise be! (Max is especially excited. Can you tell?)

5:45pm: Dinner is served. We have one of our favorites; SPAGHETTI! Everyone is fat and happy. Max loves his dinner so much, we have to take his shirt and immediately put it in the wash with some spot treatement.

6:00p - 6:45p: Playtime! We usually have extended playtime with daddy, but an annoying salesman interrupted dinner/play. The boys were NOT happy about this! We did manage to find some fun things to do, like help mommy clean the kitchen, have a dance party and then tag team moving a chair across the kitchen to get into the clean dishes on the counter. Good thing it's almost bathtime!

6:45p: Our favorite time of day; BATH! We head upstairs and play in the tub.

7:00p: Lotion, jammies and a warm bottle

7:10p: Storytime with mama

7:15p: Teeth brushing and goodnight hugs. Song and prayers with mama and daddy.. then BED!

A VERY exhausted mommy and daddy finally have a few moments to ourselves (once we get Kaleb to bed that is). We usually spend it relaxing with each other over dinner and a television show or two.

I hope you enjoyed a little glimpse into our lives! We have so much fun with these boys and feel blessed to be their parents everyday. It's exhausting and hard sometimes, but overall it is the best job on earth. We love our little family! Please let me know if you have any questions about our routine. As I mentioned, we are still a work in progress in a few areas, but in general, I am very happy with our schedule and how easy the boys are! Thanks for reading, friends!

With Love,
