Name:
Kaydee Alton

Where do you currently live?  Jacksonville, Arkansas

How far along were you when you found out you were expecting twinsI was 10 weeks.

Any issues during your pregnancy?
I had little signs that something wasn't right but my doctor said it was normal. These are the two main ones:

1. I felt like if one of the babies kicked hard enough my water could break.
2. My milk came in a 23 weeks.

Memorable/funny moment when you were pregnant: The night before our first ultrasound I had a dream I had a little boy with four legs later to find out I was carrying twins.

Looking back, what is one thing you would tell your pregnant self?  To relax and soak in my pregnancy - it ended way to quickly for me.

How many weeks/days were you when your twins were born? 24 weeks

Did you have a c-section or natural delivery?  I had an emergency c-section. I was fully dilated and baby A was bulging waist down - there was no stopping labor.

Any NICU time?  If yes, for what reason and how long?  We had a 4 month NICU stay. The first three months were in Japan and they flew at two pounds from Japan to Arkansas.

Did you have any complications after delivery? None

How long did you (the parents) stay in the hospital? I stayed two days and demanded to go home on day three. I was expected to stay a week (Japanese standards).

What are three things you are so glad you had (or wish you would have had) at the hospital?

1. My husband I wish they would've let my husband stay with me but do not allow it.
2. A translator- I woke up at 2 am in a panic because I had no husband and no one to ask questions. My nurses didn't speak English and all I wanted to know was if my twins were alive. Talk about scary
3. American food- the food they provided was not good so I didn't eat unless my husband brought something to sneak in.

Describe one of your favorite moments while you were at the hospital:  I never had a favorite moment. Our delivery and everything after was just so scary. We were told our babies had a 15% chance of survival so we just went day by day because we never knew if something would happen.

If you had one piece of advice you could give an expecting mom of twins, what would it be?  Yes you may feel miserable at times but to have a baby in the NICU is worse. I went a month before I could hold my boy and two months before I could hold my girl. Just be thankful if you carry past 24 weeks!
