Where do you currently live?  Mt.Vernon, SD

How far along were you when you found out you were expecting twins5.5 weeks

Any issues during your pregnancy?
Went into labor at 29 weeks, stopped it and was able to take medicine and work until delivery.

Memorable/funny moment when you were pregnant: All of the ultrasounds we had to see how the twins were growing.

Looking back, what is one thing you would tell your pregnant self?  Enjoy the pregnancy, towards the end, I was done.

How many weeks/days were you when your twins were born? 36 weeks, 2 days

Baby A's Information:
Macy Marie

Macy did well right away when she was born. She went down to the nursery with Owen. She had a feeding tube as she did not want to eat. She had to pass so many feedings in order to get it out but she had a different plan and pulled it out herself after only a few hours of having it.

Baby B's Information:  Owen Mark

October 15, 2013

When Owen was born he was not breathing the best and was rushed down to the nursery and was started on O2 and an IV. He improved really fast and was off O2 in a couple hours and the IV was removed in a couple days. He had a feeding tube was he did not eat too well right away.

Did you have a c-section or natural delivery?  Natural Delivery. Planned on a natural delivery but was in the OR just in case the doctor felt we needed to do an emergency c-section. There were 20 plus people in the OR including doctors, nurses, ultrasound, students and many more. Everything went so fast. We had a doctors appointment that morning. At the appointment I had told the doctor I felt like my water broke the day before but wasn't sure as it seemed to stop. He did a test and it came back negative so we went and did the growth scan to see how the babies were doing. On the way over to the US room my husband joked saying to the doctor, "Think we could have the babies tomorrow," the doctor laughed and that was about it. He talked a lot while looking at Baby A but then when he got to Baby B he was pretty quiet. When he got done, he said what do you think about having the babies today as baby B has hardly any fluid left. In shock we both said okay. We headed up to OB at 9:45ish. Got hooked up and IV started. When we left the clinic I was at a 4 and then when we got up there and once I was hooked up they checked me and I was at a 7. I requested my epidural but it was taking some time. My doctor came and broke the remaining sack of water at 11:30. They were supposed to take me to the OR at 9cm and called the doctor. We got to the OR at 1:05 and had the babies at 1:15 & 1:26.

Any NICU time?  If yes, for what reason and how long?  No, they just spent a couple extra days in the hospital to get their feedings and temps under control.

Did you have any complications after delivery? I had severe back pain, which for over 3 weeks I just figured it was from lifting both car seats at once. Finally after an extremely bad evening where I couldn't find anything that would help, I decided to go to the doctor. I waited a couple days before I went. Went into the ER with another bad night and found out my gallbladder was bad and needed to be removed. It was removed two days later. When the doctor came in he said that if we wouldn't have removed it that soon I would of ended up very sick and in the hospital for awhile. Gallbladder attack is by far worse than any delivery I had!! Recovery also took longer than after delivery. Thinking back I believe I had the gallbladder issues during my whole pregnancy but just thought it was pain because the babies were squished.

How long did you (the parents) stay in the hospital? 2 days

Did your twins stay with you or in the hospital nursery at night? Nursery until I was released, then with me in the room.

What are three things you are so glad you had (or wish you would have had) at the hospital?

1. Visitors the first couple days as the babies had to be in the warmer in the nursery
2. Wish I had more time enjoying the babies with my husband. He mainly had to stay with our son Isaac and we could only keep Isaac busy so long before he needed to leave.
3.Wish I had a robe.

Describe one of your favorite moments while you were at the hospital:  When Macy and Owen no longer had a feeding tube.

If you had one piece of advice you could give an expecting mom of twins, what would it be?  Stay relaxed as hard as it is. My babies are so relaxed most of the time and I believe it is because for the most part I have been pretty relaxed with them. Their temperament is amazing.
