Where do you currently live?  Flowery Branch, GA

How far along were you when you found out you were expecting twins9 weeks, first appointment!

Any issues during your pregnancy?
I was fine until 25 weeks, then my doctors started to worry because my cervix was thinning, but they didn't take me out of work. I was going to my OB one week, MFM the next pretty much throughout my pregnancy. I went back the next week and was told I needed to go to the hospital to have steroid shots and I'd be home by sunday(I was told this on a Friday right before we were supposed to leave town for a weekend trip. Just my luck). So off to the hospital we went. I got into a room, poked, prodded and monitored for a few hours when a nurse came flying into the room. Asked me in a panic if I was feeling anything or in any pain. Nope, I'm fine, what's your problem? After an hour of being on the monitor I had over 40 contractions. Oops! I couldn't feel a thing! More medicine, finally the first steroid shot(OUCH!!!!), and up all night because now I was concerned.

Long story short, I had an IV for 4 days, got two steroid shots, was put on procardia every 6 hours... For 8 weeks. In the hospital. The whole time they had me on a gestational diabetic diet also. I failed the test by two points, however my doctor ended up telling me,at 34 weeks, that it could have been the wrong results because they tested me the morning after I got a steroid shot, which makes your blood sugar spike.

At 34 weeks I basically begged and pleaded to go home. My Dr finally let me on conditions that I'd go 'straight home and stay laying down' well... I did that, after I stopped at target! I rode the scooter around, don't worry :)

I went into labor a week later.

Memorable/funny moment when you were pregnant: I'm sure there are so many funny moments, but now that I've had the boys I have the Mom Brain issue, I can't remember much!

I do remember one time, I was at work and pulled a patient back into a room for the doctor to see. The patient saw me waddling(already at 22ish weeks) and asked, "are you sure there's only one in there?" When I told him, "oh.. There's two!" He about fell on the floor and kept apologizing to me. I laughed because it wasn't the first time I had heard that comment, but I'm sure he won't ever say that again!

Looking back, what is one thing you would tell your pregnant self?  Drink more water!!! Seriously, I know it doesn't taste good, but once I started drinking tons in the hospital, they took the IV out.

Are your twins identical? Fraternal

Did you have a c-section or natural delivery?  C-Section. Brock was head down but Brody (my wild child in my belly) was... well, all over the place. I elected for a c-section.

Any NICU time?  If yes, for what reason and how long?  No. Neither baby. Brock had low blood sugar, so they checked on him more. But no NICU!

Did you have any complications after delivery? No. :)

How long did you (the parents) stay in the hospital? 3 days

Did your twins stay with you or the hospital nursery at night? 1st night with us, nursery the next 2 nights.

What are three things you are so glad you had (or wish you would have had) at the hospital?
(1) My husband, he stayed with me EVERY single night.
(2) My iPad
(3) I wish I could have brought my dog with me :(

Describe one of your favorite moments while you were at the hospital:  My stepmom drove 8 hours, from FL to surprise me. She knew it was tough being in a hospital room for so long, so she came to sit with me for a few days. I love her so much and that was such an awesome surprise!

If you had one piece of advice you could give an expecting mom of twins, what would it be?  Oh goodness.. One thing that helped me when I was pregnant and now that my boys are 10 months old, is having a sense of humor. If I didn't laugh at things that happened, I wouldn't have made it this far without losing it.

One serious piece of advice I'd give any pregnant woman- do NOT be afraid to call your doctor! I see so many threads and MoMs facebook pages asking serious questions that should probably be addressed by a doctor immediately. Doctors are here for us, they know more than friends on Facebook or strangers on all the blogs.

  1. Cute boys!! They look identical to me though! We thought our boys were fraternal for the first year of their life, finally got them tested and they ended up being identical! Do you get asked if they are ID a lot?

    1. Yes! Multiple times a day. We actually did a DNA test 2 weeks ago and should get the results back this week!

  2. I was thinking the same thing as Marie! They look so alike, and both absolutely adorable. Many say my girls look alike even though I see little to no resemblance. Lol
