Name: Meagan Griffin
Where do you currently live? Montgomery, AL
How far along were you when you found out you were expecting twins? 8 weeks
Any issues during your pregnancy? I went into preterm labor at 27 weeks for unknown reasons. We were vacationing at Lake Martin, which was about an hour away from the hospital. My water broke at 2am while I was sleeping. I kept hoping and praying it wasn't what I thought it was. It was a long trip to the hospital filled with lots of prayers.
Memorable/funny moment when you were pregnant: I had horrible nose bleeds and I had one on the beach that was so bad people came from all around to my aid thinking something was seriously wrong with the giant pregnant woman. I so badly wanted a quiet day on the beach.
Looking back, what is one thing you would tell your pregnant self? That it was ok to lay on the couch and to not pick up heavy things.
How many weeks/days were you when your twins were born? 27 weeks
Baby A's Information: Spears Rhodes

Baby B's Information: Michael Roberts

Are your twins identical? No
Did you have a c-section or natural delivery? Spears was too low for me to be given pain meds. I had to give birth to him naturally on an operating table. I then was flipped over to have a c-section for baby Roberts. It was an emergency situation, my husband wasn't allowed in for the natural birth. I was not allowed to see them after they were born. It wasn't until after recovery that they wheeled my bed in the NICU to see my miracles.
Any NICU time? If yes, for what reason and how long? Roberts spent about 93 days in the NICU and Spears spent about 64 days. Roberts maxed out his ventilator at the original hospital and was transported by ambulance at one week old to another hospital with a higher level NICU. We spent months between two hospitals. We faced brain hemorrhages, heart valve issues, infections, multiple jaundice issues, blood transfusions, oxygen desaturations, 2 types of ventilators, cpaps, and much more. We are thankful to our Lord Jesus everyday for our boys.
Did you have any complications after delivery? I was ok, just a long recovery. It helped that I had to get up to see the boys.
How long did you (the parents) stay in the hospital? A week
What are three things you are so glad you had (or wish you would have had) at the hospital?
Well I was not packed for the hospital! I only had a maternity bathing suit and flip flops. I loved having a gown that I could easily pump with.
Describe one of your favorite moments while you were at the hospital: Seeing them for the first time. As frightening as it was having them at 27 weeks, I finally got to see my little tiny beloveds.
If you had one piece of advice you could give an expecting mom of twins, what would it be? Rest! Listen to your body! You know how you feel.
