Name: Kim Swart
Where do you currently live? Pineville, Louisiana
How far along were you when you found out you were expecting twins? 6 weeks
Any issues during your pregnancy? None! My pregnancy was so easy other than being nauseous the entire time!
Getting pregnant is another story.
Memorable/funny moment when you were pregnant: The thing that I will remember most about being pregnant with these angels is the way it felt when they would dance in my tummy at the same time! There is no other feeling quite like it, and boy were they busy! Moving alllllll of the time- especially at night when I wanted to sleep so bad!! But I wouldn't have traded those little kicks and wiggles for anything.
The funniest part was the night my water broke! I jumped out of bed (around 2am) because I thought I peed on myself (haha). I cleaned up and went back to bed and as soon as a laid down it happened again.. I did this a couple more times before my husband was WIDE awake. I went and sat in the bathroom and Kyle came with me. We couldn't decide if my water actually broke because it just wasn't as dramatic as it is on TV! So we sat there for a good 15 minutes googling "water break trickle?", haha! My sister is a nurse on labor and delivery and she happened to be at work that night, so I called her. She said that if I felt like my water MIGHT have broken that they needed to check me..And then came the first contraction. OUCH!!! TIME TO GO!!!!
Looking back, what is one thing you would tell your pregnant self? I would tell myself not to stress about the baby registry!! I panicked about that, but we ended up getting EVERYTHING we needed! I would also tell myself to nap more :).
How many weeks/days were you when your twins were born? 37 weeks

Are your twins identical? No
Did you have a c-section or natural delivery? C-Section. My c-section was scheduled for 1 week and a day from the day that the girls were delivered. They didn't feel like waiting! And I didn't complain about that! Kadence was always head down, but Kinsley liked to flip around from breech to sideways, so my doctor felt most comfortable with a c-section and so did we. Since the section was already scheduled, when I went into labor- my doctor and the on call doctor came in to perform the c-section and deliver our babies. The epidural made me feel soooooo nauseous. It is such a strange feeling to throw up but not feel it.. After that happened they gave me some medicine to help with the nausea. Kadence came out first-pink and screaming! The most wonderful sound! After she was delivered, Kinsley did the ole flipparoo into the breech position and was pulled out feet first with a cord around her neck. She was screaming, but she was purple :(.. It didn't take long for her color to be normal though. Something that is so special to me is that my sister was one of the nurses in the delivery room and she cared for my girls and I after they were born. It was so amazing to have her there!
Any NICU time? If yes, for what reason and how long? I am so blessed to be able to answer this question with a NO. No NICU!
Did you have any complications after delivery? No complications! Everything went so smoothly.
How long did you (the parents) stay in the hospital? 3 full days, 2 nights
Did your twins stay with you or in the hospital nursery at night? They went to the nursery at night. My sister was their nurse and she brought them to me every 3 hours to breastfeed.
What are three things you are so glad you had (or wish you would have had) at the hospital?
1. BELLY BANDIT- miracle for c-section mommies. If you want to laugh or cough after your section- buy one..
2. Burts Bees chapstick
3. Lansioh Nipple ointment. Breastfeeding is so painful when you have babies with teeny tiny mouths..
Describe one of your favorite moments while you were at the hospital: The first time I held them and Kyle and I spent some time alone with them for a few moments before the rest of the family came in. Looking at these perfect little faces and knowing that God gave them to us to protect and love is the most overwhelming feeling in the world.
If you had one piece of advice you could give an expecting mom of twins, what would it be? Relax. YOU WILL BE A GREAT MOM!!!!! Having twins is such an amazing blessing (which Kyle and I prayed for... GOD LISTENS). You know what is best for your babies- so don't listen to unwanted advice or let anyone scare you into thinking that you are in over your head. You wouldn't be pregnant with 2 if you couldn't handle it. Ask for help when you need it and don't be afraid to accept help when it is offered. My mom still comes over to help me fold clothes on Friday's. I am NOT embarrassed about that! ;)
